Ethics Law: Regional Training

Due to the ongoing COVID19 crisis, the Ohio Ethics Commission has cancelled all “in-person” trainings, including the previously scheduled Regional Trainings.

However, the Ethics Commission provides alternatives to in-house speeches that are convenient, helpful, and free:

  • Each month, a live webinar provides an overview of the Ohio Ethics Law and allows for interaction and questions
  • The on-demand e-course is also free and available to learners 24/7.

For those who may need it, proof of attendance is provided for both learning alternatives. For the webinar, learners receive an email with their name on the list of those who completed the webinar. For the e-course, the learner either prints a certificate of completion at the end of the course or it can be saved as a pdf document.

As a bonus for public practice attorneys, the webinar and the e-course are both approved for one general hour of CLE credit.

For a helpful reading overview of the Ohio Ethics Law, feel free to review The Overview of the Ohio Ethics Law which provides a chapter-by-chapter review of the provisions of the law.

Cuyahoga County Webinar

For several years, the Ohio Ethics Commission has been honored to work with Cuyahoga Community College, the Cuyahoga County Inspector General, and the Citizens League of Greater Cleveland to offer a training session especially for Cuyahoga County public employees and officials. This year, the class will be offered in an online format on November 20, 2020. The agenda is as follows:

10:00 – 11:00 a.m. The Ohio Ethics Law (approved for 1.0 hour CLE and CPE)

Please note that anyone in public service is welcome to attend these sessions. Simply log on to the webinar at the time of the session you wish to attend. If you wish to attend both sessions, log on prior to 8:45 am and stay online through the end of the second session. There is no need to log in a second time.

Again, you may attend both sessions or just one. (For state employees and officials to meet the Ethics Law training requirement per the Executive Order, you must attend the 10 am session regarding the Ohio Ethics Law, but again, you are also welcomed to attend the earlier session, as well).
